Thanks to our team of physicians specializing in various surgical subjects, we aim to achieve the maximum positive outcomes for all diseases in the field of general surgery.
General surgery is a specialty that relies on surgical repair for diseases that cannot be treated with drugs or other medical methods, or healing by cutting and removing the affected organ.
The term “surgery,” which originates from the Latin word “chirurgiae” meaning “handwork,” is used today to treat many diseases. The general surgery department, which encompasses various fields of study, collaborates with units that have expertise in oncology, endocrinology, and trauma.
General surgery, one of the fields where new-generation medical applications are frequently used, is a treatment system where robotic technology is widely used and successful results are obtained.
General surgery is the surgical specialty that focuses on the internal organs of the human body such as the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and bile ducts, as well as the thyroid gland. Additionally, it encompasses diseases related to the skin, breast, and tissues.
In our center, all surgeries are performed using microsurgery, laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, and other techniques, with the best medical equipment and supplies.
Thanks to the significant advancements in modern technology in the medical field, general surgery has become safer and more effective, and does not require extensive surgical intervention.
Surgeries performed using laparoscopic techniques reduce recovery time and promote rapid healing, in addition to facilitating patient management and follow-up, reducing hospital stay, and lowering the risk rate.
Diseases Treated by General Surgery
The devices or systems used for surgeries also determine the general surgery department that will perform the treatment. Thyroid surgeries (goiter) are performed to eliminate diseases of endocrine department patients that require surgical treatment.
General surgery works with more than one different department. To treat diseases of the digestive system, surgeries such as those of the esophagus, small and large intestines, stomach, rectum, liver, and gallbladder are performed by general surgery.
Procedures and Techniques
Surgeries are performed using open or closed methods. Laparoscopy and abdominal endoscopy systems, which are frequently used among closed surgery methods, contribute positively to the rapid progress of post-operative recovery. Therefore, in recent years, both doctors and patients prefer closed surgery methods.

Robotic Surgery in General Surgery
Robotic Surgery and Successful Cancer Surgery, performed using Da Vinci robotic surgery, robotic surgery significantly reduces hospital stay and recovery time. It is highly recommended by Da Vinci surgeons worldwide.
Areas of Robotic Surgery Application:
- General Surgery: Robotic surgery systems are widely used in general surgery.
- Robotic Colon Surgery: Da Vinci can be used in the surgical treatment of various colorectal diseases, especially colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, and inflammatory bowel diseases. In rectal surgery, it provides protection for nerves near the surgical area.
- Breast Surgery: Surgical breast biopsies, lumpectomy, fine needle aspiration, core biopsy, and breast biopsies are performed with the assistance of the radiology department. Breast-conserving surgery, mastectomy, and axillary dissection are performed. When lymph node biopsy is indicated, blue dye is used or applied with the help of a gamma probe in collaboration with the nuclear medicine department.
- Thyroid Surgery: Thyroid and parathyroid surgery, as well as adrenal surgery, are performed conventionally or laparoscopically. Especially in parathyroid diseases, surgical treatment is applied using a gamma probe in conjunction with the nuclear medicine department.
- Liver, Pancreas, and Biliary Tract Surgery: Surgical interventions for the liver, biliary tract, and pancreas, such as major liver resections, pancreatectomy (Whipple’s surgery), laparoscopic cholecystectomy, and other biliary tract surgeries, are successfully performed. In addition, patients with pancreatitis are followed up and treated in our clinic.
- Colon and Rectal Surgery: Hemorrhoid, anal fistula, rectal prolapse, and colon and rectal resections are performed according to current treatment principles. These interventions are also performed laparoscopically.
- Gastrointestinal Surgery: Especially for stomach cancer, total or partial gastrectomy (with lymph node dissection) and esophagectomy are performed.
- Laparoscopic Surgery: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, splenectomy, adrenalectomy, colectomy, inguinal and abdominal hernia repair, ovarian cyst, anti-reflux surgery, and diagnostic laparoscopic procedures are performed in the general surgery center.
- Emergency Surgery: The general surgery center, which is a reference center for emergency cases, painful causes, and other causes of acute surgical diseases, is distinguished.
- Nutrition: Nutritionists continue to work under the direction of the general surgery department to provide nutritional support for patients who cannot be fed due to cancer or other gastrointestinal diseases, and to regulate and guide such treatments.
Cancer patients constitute a significant portion of our general surgery patient population. In collaboration with specialized physicians in relevant fields, we effectively address and eliminate tumor formations that may arise in various parts of the body.
Our comprehensive approach to cancer care involves a coordinated effort between our general surgery department and specialized physicians. Diagnostic and treatment plans are meticulously developed and implemented simultaneously. Post-surgical care is seamlessly integrated with our pathology, radiology, and medical oncology departments.
