Required Operation

Medical profile of the patient:

The patient contacted us remotely as she was suffering from “Ventricular Septal Defect “between the atria, Cardiomegaly, and high blood pressure in the pulmonary artery, shortness of breath and pain.

As a result of the inability to perform surgery in Iraq and the lack of modern techniques in cardiac surgery, and as a result of the patient’s refusal to undergo open heart surgery, the patient’s family decided that she has to be  treated in Turkey.

All the information about the surgery has been given to the patient’s family, where a closed heart hole between the two atria will be performed with minimal surgical intervention to operate without opening the chest through an opening from under the right artery. It is one of the most modern international techniques used in cardiac surgery.

For the patient’s health, the procedure was necessary and urgent. After the patient arrived at the hospital, all diagnostic tests were repeated and the required medical specialties were consulted:

  • Clinical examination in the Department of Cardiology including: ECG – Angiography – Chest X-ray.
  • Clinical examination in the anesthesia department: blood tests and Covid test
  • Clinical examination in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery.

All preoperative checks and examinations were performed, as well as the decision to perform a diagnostic catheter to confirm the cardiovascular condition and diagnose the proper interatrial perforation closure and Modified Warden Procedure.

After the patient agreed to the surgery, she was admitted to the operating room and thanks to God and the experience of the professor, the procedure was successfully completed and now the patient is in a good health.

Atrial Septal Defect “ASD” Closure and Modified Warden Procedure using new and international technologies  in cardiac surgery

Information about Atrial Septal Defect “ASD” Closure and Modified Warden Procedure

On a date of 08.02.2022, a patient was admitted to an operating room and we performed a general anesthesia and the surgeon started an operation that entered the opening of the rib from under the right artery. The surgeon was brought under Kardiyopulmoner Bypass (KPB) with cardiac arrest and connection to the cardiopulmonary prosthesis apparatus and a hole in the heart between the atria closed. Partially abnormal pulmonary venous procedure is corrected with the superior cavity and the Modified Warden Procedure In Adult.

The Center for Cardiovascular and Vascular Surgery in Children and Adults offers the latest international techniques used in heart surgery, the most important of these techniques are:

  • Open heart surgery
  • Robotic surgery
  • Minimally invasive cardiac surgery
  • Closed Heart Surgery
  • Arterial replacement surgery without cardiac arrest (the operation is performed without attaching to an artificial heart-lung machine).

Our institution is one of the first institutions in Turkey to perform cardiac surgery for children and adults with minimal surgical intervention. Our institution is characterized by the presence of experienced doctors using modern techniques where we perform these operations for all cardiac patients.
